Noted marine artist, Wilma Parker’s works include the allegorical Homecoming, Naval Air Station, Alameda (NAS Alameda, ’96) and Launch of the Springfield, commissioned by the Navy for the namesake ship. That oil on canvas, along with a companion piece, Violet Sea, was exhibited at the Nautilus Memorial, Groton, CT, as well as at the Lyman Allen Museum, New London, CT. A painting for the Coast Guard A Rival of the New Helicopter is in the permanent collection of the Naval Air Museum, Pensacola, FL. Wilma is also the recipient of the George Gray Award, Coast Guard Artists, Salmagundi Club, NYC. Parker’s work was included in the 86th Inaugural of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum’s first show Looking at Earth.
